HEALTH SERVICES OFFERED
 
1. EXPANDED PROGRAM OF IMMUNIZATION (EPI)

     The EPI is one of the impact programs of the Department of Health which prioritizes free immunization coverage for all children age 0 to 12 months for the  protection against the following communicable diseases: Tuberculosis (vaccine used is BCG), Diptheria, Polio and Tetanus (vaccine used is DPT), Hepatitis (HBV) and Measles (vaccine used is AMV). Once the child received all the vaccines before reaching the age of 1 year he is now called a Fully Immunized Child (FIC). The vaccines are available in all health centers provided by the DOH.

     For Pregnant Mothers, we give Tetanus Toxoid as protection for the child and mother. And when she receives the 4th dose of immunization, she is now called Fully Immunized Mother.

2. GENERAL MEDICINE & CONSULTATION

     The MHO provides medical consultation, couseling, and treatment to all clients who come in for consultation of their complaints. As a primary health care facility, we provide treatment of cases that can be handled using the Primary Health Care Approach. Cases which need higher level of care are referred to the District Hospital for further evaluation and management.

     Other medical services provided are attendance to medico legal cases, issuance of medical certificates, death certificates and health certificates for employment.

3. BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING

     BP determination and monitoring is part of the routine vital signs taking in all clients aged 18 years and above. Management of Hypertension in adults is adapted from the Philippine Clinical Practice Guidelines of 1996. This also includes counseling on Lifestyle Modification like to stop smoking, weight reduction, regular physical activity, moderate drinking and moderation of dietary sodium.

4. FAMILY PLANNING

     Family Planning is a voluntary and positive action of couples to plan and decide the number of children they want to have them. This is achieved by using the different medically approved and legally accepted methods of contraception that will space or limit child bearing when the desired family size is already attained. The MHO offers FP services from counseling to the introduction of the different methods (temporary and permanent) and follow-up users at regular schedule.

5. COUNSELLING

     The health approach of good communication and counseling is being integrated in all health program in the implementation of Primary Health Care. In the conduct of Pre-Marital Counseling, Reproductive Health is introduced to all couples who intend to marry and start a family. Reproductive Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes. Couseling to couples also covers from conception to birth of a child until the growth of the child.

6. DENTAL SERVICES

     Dental Health provides preventive, curative and promotive services especially to the young, school children and the mothers.

     Preventive care includes oral examination and hygiene, proper tooth brushing and flouridization. Curative Care includes permanent filling using the Atraumatic Restorative Therapy (ART) and extraction. Health promotion includes group discussions with mothers and young children on dental health care and distribution of toothbrushes to Pre Schoolers and School children.

7. PRENATAL AND POSTNATAL CARE

     Maternal care during pregnancy pre and postnatal is vital to the pregnant mother to prevent maternal and infant deaths. Provision of Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin A is given routinely during check-up. IEC on maternal hygiene, breastfeeding and family planning are integrated during the r-enatal and post-natal care.

8. OTHER HEALTH PROGRAMS IN PLACE:

1. Filaria Control Program - The program objective is to stop the transmission of lymphatic  Filaria andto prevent the suffering and disability of individuals already affected of the disease. Activities on line is the of conduct active case finding to onesentinel site, Barangay Roxas, advocacy & mass treatment to all residents of the municipality age 2 years and above. Mass treatment aims to treat carries of the disease.

2. Malaria Control Program - The program aims to increase the proportion of febrile patients receiving early diagnosis and appropriate anti-malaria therapy and strengthening and axpansion of services for confirmed diagnosis and effective treatment in identified endemic barangays of Bigaan, Tagasaka and Loyola

3. Dengue Control Program - The program aims to eliminate all possible breeding places for the Aedes mosquito and increase awareness of the community on Dengue disease and its prevention and control. Activities to sustain the program are: sustain the 4:00 o'clock habit in every barangay, continuous IEC on environmental sanitation and early referral of cases to the nearest health facility of suspected dengue cases.

4. Schistosomiasis Control Program - The program aims to eliminate Schistosomiasis in one endemic barangay Loyola through active case finding, mass treatment, environmental sanitation and environmental modification. Annually for the past 5 years, IEC, active case finding through stool examination and identification of snail vector of Brgy. Loyola has shown to ne negativen for the disease.

5. Local Blood Voluntary Program - The Program aims to make blood supply readily available especially in emergency situations wherein blood is vital to save a life. The local government in coordination with the national offices of the DOH and the PNRC conducts blood voluntary donation activities in order to have ready supply of blood at the nearest hospital.

6. Women's Health and Safe Motherhood Program - This program aims to contribute to the national goal of improving women's health by increasing access of disadvantaged women to acceptable nd high quality reproductive health services and to enable them to safety attain their desired spacing and number of children. The project also aims to replicate the project experience as part of then mainstream approaches of reproductive health care within the framework of the Health Sector Reform agenda, which is now being pursued by "Formula One" of the DOH. The program seeks to address the following sector issues of:

a. high maternal and infant mortality

b. high fertility

c. high and increasing Sexually Transmitted Deseases (STD)

d. the need for reproductive health service that focus on Youth

e. the need to address the above concerns in a cost/s effective and sustainable manner wherein the responsibility to address its rests with the local governmetns.

9. ENVIRONMENTAL AND SANITATION PROGRAM

      The program aims to provide services for safe and potable water, proper excreta disposal food sanitation, and eco-solid waste management in the municipality.

10. NUTRITION PROGRAM

     The program aims to decrease the prevalence of malnutrition status affecting 34% of preschoolers and school children and addressing this problem through: multi-sectoral and inter-agency linkages, IEC, community participation and feeding programs of the target population.
